The Serendipity Difference
Why Choose a Guided Tour?
Karahantepe is remote, its signage is minimal, and its significance is invisible without context. A knowledgeable guide transforms a visit into a revelation.
Expert Knowledge
Guides with deep archaeological training who understand the latest research on Karahantepe, Göbekli Tepe, and the Taş Tepeler network. Not scripted talks — real expertise.
Small Groups
Maximum 8 travellers per group. Enough room to hear every explanation, ask every question, and experience the sites without crowds. Private tours also available.
Curated Itineraries
Thoughtfully designed routes combining Karahantepe, Göbekli Tepe, the Şanlıurfa Archaeology Museum, and regional highlights. Every day tells a coherent story.
Flexible Dates
Scheduled group departures throughout the season, plus fully private tours on dates that suit you. Customise your itinerary to match your interests and pace.
Sample Itinerary
A Day in the Taş Tepeler Landscape
A typical full-day excursion from Şanlıurfa, combining museum context, two world-class Neolithic sites, and the region's celebrated cuisine.
Şanlıurfa Archaeology Museum
Begin with the museum's world-class Neolithic collection — including Urfa Man, the oldest known life-size human statue, and finds from both Göbekli Tepe and Karahantepe. Essential context for the sites ahead.
Drive to Göbekli Tepe
A short 12 km drive northeast of the city. Guided tour of the excavated enclosures, T-shaped pillars, and the latest finds from this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Traditional Urfa Cuisine
A leisurely lunch at a local restaurant in or near Şanlıurfa. Sample çiğ köfte, lahmacun, and the region's famous isot pepper — southeastern Turkey is one of the country's great culinary destinations.
Drive to Karahantepe
35 km from Göbekli Tepe, through the rolling steppe of the Tektek Mountains. Guided exploration of Structure AB, the carved human heads, animal reliefs, and the bedrock-carved chambers.
Return to Şanlıurfa
Drive back to the city with an optional visit to Balıklıgöl (Pool of Sacred Fish) — a peaceful, tree-shaded complex associated with the prophet Abraham. A fitting end to the day.

What Travellers Say
"We've travelled extensively in the Middle East, but nothing prepared us for Karahantepe. Our Serendipity guide brought 11,000 years of history to life in a way no guidebook ever could. The small group size meant we could ask every question — and there were many."

"I'd read every academic paper I could find on the Taş Tepeler sites before coming. Even so, standing inside Structure AB with a guide who actually knew the excavation team was a completely different level. Serendipity delivered far beyond expectations."
