Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Karahan Tepe (karahan-tepe.com) is an independent archaeological travel guide published by Fazli Karabacak and Serendipity Tours Turkey. It is not the official excavation or visitor-management website. You can reach us at info@serendipityturkey.com.

2. What we collect

• Contact: information you choose to send by email or through a linked operator website. Those external services have their own privacy notices.
• Newsletter requests: the email you submit is sent to Formspree, the form-delivery service used by this site. A successful submission confirms receipt of a request, not completion of a mailing-list subscription.
• Optional analytics: after you accept, Google Analytics can receive page views, device/browser information, cookie identifiers, and interactions such as tour-link clicks and successful newsletter requests. Form contents, email addresses, and URL query strings are not included in our custom events.
• Hosting: Cloudflare serves this website and receives network information needed to deliver and protect it, independently of optional Google Analytics.

3. How we use your data

• To receive and respond to messages and newsletter requests you submit.
• To understand site use and referral interactions when you accept analytics.

For questions about mailing-list handling, data retention, or the operator's other services, contact the email above. This notice describes this website's implementation; it does not state unverified account retention settings or processing arrangements.

4. Cookies and analytics

Analytics is off until you choose “Accept analytics.” Before acceptance, this implementation does not load Google's analytics script, send analytics requests, or create analytics cookies. “Reject analytics” is available alongside acceptance. Your choice is stored in this browser's local storage so it can be remembered on later visits.

Use “Analytics preferences” in the footer or below to change your choice. Rejecting after accepting disables analytics, clears this site's accessible Google Analytics cookies, and reloads the page to unload the Google script. Withdrawal does not erase data already received by Google. If browser storage is unavailable, a choice may apply only to the current page.

Google states that GA4 does not log or store individual IP addresses; that is not the same as anonymous tracking. Cookies and other identifiers can still relate visits to a browser. See Google's GA4 data collection explanation and Google's privacy policy. The loader requests no advertising personalization or Google signals. Preview and development deployments do not enable analytics. Production analytics also requires a separate, default-off configuration-review release setting; a measurement ID alone does not enable it.

Analytics also stays off on pages whose address contains a query string or fragment, even after acceptance. If one is added during a visit, analytics is disabled for the rest of that page. This prevents Google's automatic URL-based measurement from sending search terms in those addresses; sanitizing our custom events alone would not prevent that.

5. Your rights

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
